Terms & conditions

Confidentiality

All our sessions are confidential. I will only ever talk about our work together, under strict confidentiality, during clinical supervision. Clinical supervision is where a psychologist or psychotherapist employs the services of another registered healthcare professional to assure the quality of their work. It is an ethical and regulatory requirement for all practitioner psychologists to use clinical supervision.

I would consider breaking confidentiality only in situations where your life or that of another were in danger, or if there were child protection concerns. In these cases I would speak with you first, if possible, and involve you in the decision to inform your GP, emergency services, or your designated emergency contact.

Commitment

I will commit to being available at a regular weekly time that works for you. You don't have to make a commitment. You can continue in therapy for as long as you find it helpful. As our work together develops, we will review progress regularly and discuss how you want to proceed.

I will give you advance notice of planned absences, and I will let you know as soon as I can if I have to cancel your session in an emergency.

Fees

My fees are displayed at chriscleavetherapy.com and will be agreed between us before the start of therapy. I will provide you with at least two months’ notice of any change in fees.

Payment

I will invoice you at the end of each calendar month. I ask for payment by bank transfer within seven days, please.

Late arrivals

If you need to arrive late, I will remain available to begin with you for the first 15 minutes of the session. If we do begin the session late, it will still finish at the scheduled time. This is to make sure that all my clients can have the same prompt start.

Cancellations

There is no charge for cancelling scheduled sessions, providing that you let me have at least 48 hours’ notice. Only one session per month may be cancelled, except for planned holidays. If you need to cancel a scheduled session with less than 48 hours’ notice, you will be charged 50% of the session fee. If you do not attend a scheduled session, giving no notice, you will be charged the full session fee.

Late Payment & Default Policy

Late Payment
If payment is not received by the due date, the account will be considered in default.

Suspension of Services
In the rare event of an account being in default, psychology/psychotherapy services are suspended until the outstanding balance is settled. This is to ensure clear and appropriate boundaries between therapeutic work and financial administration.

Administrative Escalation
If payment is not received and no satisfactory response is provided within 30 days of default, the outstanding balance may be referred to a professional debt recovery service or pursued through appropriate civil recovery channels. At this stage:
• The debt is treated as a civil matter
• Further contact may be handled by third-party professional services
• Additional administrative or recovery costs may be added where permitted

Jurisdiction
Outstanding fees may be pursued through appropriate civil recovery channels in the jurisdiction most suitable to the circumstances of the case.

Confidentiality
At all stages, confidentiality regarding the therapeutic relationship is maintained. No clinical information is disclosed as part of any recovery process.
